4 Skin Care Tips to Help You Spring Forward into the New Season

The beautiful season of blooming flowers, early sunrises, and spring cleaning is upon us. The Spring season represents new beginnings, out with the old and in with the new. Here are 4 quick skin care tips to bring with you into Spring. 

 

1 Out with the old and in with the new! 

This is a perfect time to go through your skincare & makeup products to check for expiration dates. Many of us tend to let products sit for months or even years without replacing or disposing. The active ingredients in skin care products will no longer be active and yield the desired results once it hits a certain point. Most skin care products are good for 6 months to 1 year. Pay attention to the expiration date and be sure to dispose of it once it has expired. This will help avoid skin irritation and help you to declutter your space for self care. 

 

2 It’s time to lighten things up a bit… 

During the winter months it’s suggested to layer up on skin care products or use heavier lotions or creams to help moisturize and protect your skin from the harsh weather conditions in the winter. Now that we’re easing into a new season you can lighten things up by using a product that's not as heavy on your skin like body oil opposed to body butter. 

It’s imperative to moisturize all year around but finding a lighter product that will still get the job done, even in the warmer months, is key! 

 

3 It’s all fun in the shade… 

Now is the time that we are finding ourselves being outdoors more. Whether you’re on the beach, gardening in your backyard, or walking the local track… it’s so important that you are protecting your skin from the harmful sun rays. Wearing a nice sun hat AND using sunscreen is essential to keeping your skin protected and avoiding things like skin cancer and signs of aging like wrinkles and discoloration. 

 

4 Don’t forget to exfoliate! 

Some things just never change, the importance of exfoliation is for all year around. Be sure to exfoliate all areas of your body 2-3 times per week. While all on vacation or even at home… DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP! This important step in your skin care routine helps remove the dead skin cells from the top layer of the skin. Exfoliating using a salt or sugar scrub helps reveal the brighter and fresher complexion lies underneath.
